THE HISTORICAL BUILDINGS IN THE GALLIPOLI TOWN ARE BEING TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION

The restoration work of the historical buidings in the Gallipoli Town of Canakkale get started with the investment of the businessman Mehmet Yakup Aksoy. Mr Aksoy would restorate the historical building in the Hocahamza street of Gallipoli Town and the building would serve as art house after the restoration. The Chief of Gallipoli Muniplicity, Cihat Bingol, told that they would be happy to accept the applications in order to restorate the historical buildings of the town and every conveience would be provided in the process.

GOOD NEWS FOR THE CANAKKALE AIRPORT

Canakkale Airport was opened 10 years ago with the regular flights of Turkish Airlines to Istanbul and Ankara. Between 1997 and 1999, Dardanel Air was launched and start operating between Canakkale - Istanbul, and Canakkale – Ankara. However due to insufficient passenger numbers, both companies stop their flights and Canakkale Airport was left empty in the past 6 years. Canakkale Deputy, Ibrahim KOSDERE, told they are working on reactivating the flights in Canakkale Airport, doing so; he has  contacted with the Vice General Manager of  State Airports Directorship, Mr Orhan BIRDAL. Mr Kosdere added that with the current technical and technological infrastructure, there would be no further investments for the flights of RJ-100 with 99 passenger capacity. Mr Kosdere told that in the beginning it is aimed to activate the Canakkale Airport with the current conditions and later further investments would be considered later in order to increase the capacity. Mr Kosdere stated that they would contact with the private flight companies such Atlas Jet, Onur Air and so on and would invite them to operate in Canakkale.

100 YEARS OLD  HISTORICAL BUILDING WILL SERVE AS 'KORFMANN'S LIBRARY'

100 years old 'Tekel Building' in the fevzipasa street of Canakkale will be restorated in order to serve as the library of Professor Korfmann.  World Famous  Archelogist, Manfred Korfmann, has granted all his studies, books and findings to Canakkale before his unfortunate death. After the death of Professor Kormann, the local authorities have started a deep search for a suitable building for the valuble grant of Professor Korfmann. Finally Canakkale Muniplicity has bought the TEKEL building for 55.000 YTL. The Chief of Canakkale Muniplicity, Ulgur GOKHAN, told that the Tekel building is in a good condition and do not need too much cost for the restoration. Mr GOKHAN added that their aim is to complete the restoration work in 6 months period and open the invaluable library  of Professor Korfmann as soon as possible. Mr GOKHAN stated that the old Tekel Building would not only serve as the libraray of Professor Korfmann but also will be the base for the research studies of Ancient Troas Region. Doing so, several seminars, workshops and meetings would be held in this beatiful building.  Canakkale City Council Executive Board Member, Ismail ERTEN, added that in the first examination of the building, they are impressed with the characteristic of the building and found that the carrier infrastructure of the building has no problem which would decrease the cost of the restoration work. It is told that after finalising of the drwaings of the building, the renovation work get started.

THE THIRD PHASE OF THE RESTORATION WORK IN SHOPPING STREET OF CANAKKALE HAS STARTED

The facade of the shops in the shopping street of Canakkale has been taken in to restoration which will last about 4 months. As the part of the complete restoration work of the old Canakkale Shopping Street, which has started in 2001, the third phase get started which will include 17 shops and the Yali Hamam. It is expected to spend 50.000 YTL. for the third phase of the restoration. After the third phase, it is announced that the shops on the other side of the current phase will be taken into restoration. In the fourth phase the electric cables will be taken under the ground. It is told that the third phase will finish in March 2006.

‘GALLIPOLI WILL BE THE PLACE TO BE PROUD OF’

The Prime Minister , Recep Tayip ERDOGAN, told that they are working hard in order to complete the reconstruction of the infrastructure of  the Gallipoli Peninsula Historical National Park , and added that ‘Gallipoli Peninsula Historical National Park would be the land that all the  Nations who had involved the Gallipoli Campaign  will be proud of’ In his official visit to Australia and New Zealland, Prime Minister ERDOGAN, has arrived to Australia after completing his programme in New Zealland. Prime Minister ERDOGAN performed a press meeting. Prime Minister ERDOGAN told that Gallipoli Peninsula has a great importance for all Nations who had involved the Gallipoli Campaign, they are working hard in order to improve the physical conditions. Prime Minister ERDOGAN added that first of all they have extreme attention on the historical values and patterns while performing the reconstruction of the infrastructure of the Gallipoli Peninsula. Prime Minister ERDOGAN stated that their sole aim is to sustain the beauty and mystery of the holly lands of the Gallipoli Peninsula today and tomorrows. Doing so, Gallipoli Peninsula Historical National Park would be the place that Every Nation would be proud of to visit.  Prime Minister stated that  your sons are our most valued guests lying side by side with our sons. Prime Minister ERDOGAN told that, Gallipoli Campaign can be considered as on of the rare wars which end with deep friendships that would last for centruies.

FUND SUPPORT TO CANAKKALE FROM CULTURE AND TOURISM MINISTRY

In order to support and improve the tourism potential of Canakkale, Culture and Tourism Ministry has allocated 2.917.000 YTL fund. The representitives of Culture and Tourism Minsitry told that they are working hard in order to improve the popular touristical destinations of Turkey and in the scope of these efforts, it is decided to deliver 2.917.000 YTL fund for the support of Canakkale Tourism. Doing so, 1.500.000 YTL of the total amount to be spent for Canakkale Tourism is decided to be delivered for the restoration of monuments and other historical values in the Gallipoli Peninsula, 669.000 YTL for the restoration of Archeology Museum, 283.000 YTL for the expenses of the 90th anniversary celebration of Gallipoli Campaign as well as for culture and art activities. 106.000 YTL has been delivered for the restoration of the wooden Troian Horse, 100.000 YTL is delivered to the restoration work of Babakale Castle, 50.000 YTL for the restoration of Etnographia Museum 80.000 YTL for the restoration of Biga Halimbey Palace. Apart from these, it also decided to deliver 12.000 YTL for the expenses of Lapseki Culture and Art Festival, and finally 223.000 YTL for the road construction.

THE PRIME MINISTER OF TURKIYE, TAYIP ERDOGAN, HAS STARTED HIS PLANNED OFFICIAL VISIT TO NEW ZEALLAND AND AUSTRALIA

Prime Minister, Recep Tayip Erdogan, has started the official to New Zealland and Australia which will last 9 days. Before the departure of Prime Minister Recep Tayip Erdogan and the Turkish Delegates, Prime Minister Erdogan told that they would be in New Zealland till December 7, 2005, and after wednesday it is planned to go Australia. Prime Minister Erdogan told that the official visit would end on December 11, 2005. Prime Minister Erdogan told that the friendship between Turkey and Australia, and New Zelland is improving strongly after the Gallipoli Campaign. Prime Minister Erdogan added that they have a special emphasis on the Gallipoli Peninsula Historical National Park, and they have launched a master project in order to improve the conditions in the historical peninsula while preserving the historical values. Prime Minister Erdogan told that this is the first visit of Turkish Government to Australia and New Zealland in the level of Prime Minister and they are very glad to be in these beatitful countries. Not only the common historical values but also the Turkish people living in Australia and New Zelland can be considered as the factors strengten the relationships with Turkey. 

ASSOS IS READY FOR CHRISTMASS HOLIDAY
Assos, which is one of the most attractive towns to visit in Canakkale, is preparing for the coming Christmass Holiday. With its wondefull ancient city where Aristotale also had built a school, several historical places from ottomon period and mystical stone houses , Assos is expecting huge interets for the coming Christmass Holiday. The Hotels in Assos has already released their Christmass programmes. Some of the hotel representitives told they are ready for the huge interest coming from all over the Turkey for the coming Christmass Holiday. Some famous artists and parliements are also being expected to spend their Christmass Holiday in Assos.

THE ADVENTUROUS COUPLE HAS REACHED TO THE CANARY ISLANDS

The adventurous couple, Ali and Nilgun GUNDUZ, has reached the canary islands with their 12.8 meter yacth in their route of dream world tour. The adventurous couple get started their world tour about four and half months ago from Canakkale Marine. The couple told that they have been travelling with yatch for years and after retiring they have decided to perform their dream world tour with their yatch called ‘Vagabond’. The couple added that they have departed on July 2, 2005 following the path of Sadun BORA. In their route to Canary Islands, they have passed Greece, Italy, Maderira and finally Tenerife, Canary Islands. The couple told that next they would sail to ‘Green Cape’ Islands, and follow to Caribbean, Bahamas and USA respectivly. After USA, the couple stated their route as Venezuela, Panama, Galapagos, Marquise, Fiji, New Guinea, Bali, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Eygypt, and finally Turkey. Gunduz Couple told that they are planning to complete their exciting world tour in 5 years time.
