2400 Years old Fig has been found during the excavations of the ancient city of Assos. The 2400 years old fig was found inside of a sarcophagus and it was assumed that the fig was put inside the sarcophagus as a last meal to dead body. The head of the excations in the Ancient City of Assos, Associative Proffessor Nurettin Aslan, told that they have revealed interesting findings during the year 2007 excavation period in Assos. Professor Aslan told that they have found 2 burnt figs inside of a sarcophagus, and it is thought that the fig was put inside the sarcophagus during the funeral of a dead body as a symbol of the last meal of the body. Professor Aslan explained how the figs existed up to now as the result of burn of the fig leading to become a coal and perfect isolation conditions of the sarcophagus. After the complete research of the findings, Professor Aslan predicted that the figs are about 2400 years. Professor Aslan told that burnt olive seeds had been found inside the sarcophagus.
