The Turkish and Australian Diving Team has completed the research project of the AE-2 Submarine, which was sunk in the Marmara Sea after passing the Dardanelles. AE-2 Submarine had achieved to pass the Dardanelles during the Gallipoli Campaign after the long lasting chasing between Turkish attack boats and AE-2, but the Turkish 'Sultanhisar' attack boat had caught the AE-2 Submarine in Marmara Sea around 4 miles away from Karabiga town. After the tough challenge, The AE-2 Submarine had opened its valves and had sunk to the deep waters of Marmara Sea. The Turkish and Ausralian Diving Team has completed investigation phase of the project after the hard work, which lasted a week. The Turkish Side Manager of the Project, Vecihi Basarin, told that in the concept of the project 8 hours diving had been completed. Mr Basarin continued as follow 'After the divings to the AE-2 Submarine, a few rust and bullet holes was seen on the back side of the submarine. The front side of the Submarine was damaged by the fishing nets. On the other hand, it is suprisingly the inside of the submarine was very well preserved after the 92 years in 72 meters depth.'Mr Basarin urged that the submarine should be taken to the land in order to avoid from break up. A report would be submitted to the related official constitutions regarding the results of the project.
