In order to honor the Anzac Sprit, 24 Firefigther from Melbourne, Australia and 1 firefigther from Canakkale have started the Anzac Marathon from Gallipoli to London. A ceremony has been perfomed in front of the Canakkale Fire Department before the start of the Marathon. The Marathon would be 4075 Km long and the firefighers had started the Anzac Marathon on April 26, 2008 from the Anzac Cove. Canakkale Australian Consul, Peter Rennert, told that the Marathon is planned to be completed on May 18, 2008, in Hyde Park, London. The firefighters would be escorted by 1914 French Made, historical firefighter car during the Marathon. After the speeches in the ceremony in front of the Canakkale Fire Department, some gifts have been givem to the Turkish firefighters by the Australian firefighters. Cuneyt Goncu, the firefighter of Canakkale fire department, would attend the Marathon with the Australian Firefighters. Cuneyt Goncu would run till Atina. |
