Gökçeada (Imbros) Being The Center of Surfing Tourism
Gökçeada became important after airport. Gökçeada is demonstrated as the most ideal area after Alaçatı Çeşme. Mayor Yücel Atalay said: “Gökçeada is suitable for windsurf. Surfing is available here 300 days in a year. Windsurf school is located in Aydıncık Beach District. Foreign tourists are coming every year for surfing. Gökçeada Airport opened for use in humitarian services on 15th of August in 2010. We met with air transportation companies for use Gökçeada airport. One company responded us positively. İstanbul Gökçeada flights will begin next March and flights will improve tourism in island.” District Governor of Gökçeada Kamuran Taşbilek said: “If the flights begin it would improve tourism.”
