The ancient city 'Parion', which is located in the district of Kemer Village, is reaching day light with the long lasting excavation works. Interesting results are achieved in the concept of excavations. Professor Cevat Basaran, the head of excavations in the ancient city 'Parion' , told that; they have reached important facts during the excavations which continue since 2005. In the concept of the excavations, some ancient coins have been found in the necropoles, and the ancient coins prove the sea trade up to the Black Sea region and sea transpotation. Furthermore, several ancient epigraphes have been found in the ancient city which, tell the social life in the Parion. One of the facts, which have been identified by the exploration of the epigraphes, is that the ancient city 'Parion' had a Fishermen Cooperation. The most common fishes of the area was stated as mackerel and tuna fishes. The ancient city Parion was also well known with its grapes, wine yards, wines, and pastries. Philosopers, Artemidoros and Neopltolemos, and the sculpture, Theudoros are believed to be some of the most important people of the city during 400 BC. |
