| In the year 2006 it is announced that the excavations in Troia, Assos, Gulpinar, Alexandreia-Troas, Gokceada Bademli Yeni Hoyuk, and restorations in the Historical Shelters of the Gallipoli Peninsula would continue. The Manager of Canakkale Archeology Museum, Nurten Sevinc, told that the excavation period would start in the beginning of summer 2006. Ms Sevinc added that after the unfortunate death of Professor Korfmann, it is not clear yet who whould head the excavations in Troia, but it is thought that another Professor from Tubingen University would head the excvations in the Troia. Furthermore, Ms Sevinc told that it is not clear yet whether the excavations in the antique Parion would continue this year. Ms Sevinc added that restoration of the historical shelters in the Gallipoli Peninsula Historical National Park would be the other important work in the schedule of the year 2006. |
