2008 archeological excavation season has started in the Ancient City Troia which is located beside the Tevfikiye village of Canakkale. The excavation team would be headed by Professor Ernst Pernicka from Tubingen University. 2008 excavation team is composed of around 80 archeologists from 10 countries including Turkiye, Germany, United States, Bulgaria, UK, and Holland. In the working plan of 2008, it is told that the main focus would be in the downtown around the defense fosse district. The details of the Roman period would be under investigation in the area of the excavation. During the 2007 excavation period, ruins from the bronze age was found in the down town district. It is told that the excavation period would end in the beginning of september 2008.
