The findings of the 2005 excavation period of the ancient city Parion has been delivered to the Canakkale Archeology Museum. The head of the excavations team, Professor Cevat BASARAN from Ataturk University, told that in the excavation period of 2005, 4 ancient tombs had been found. Among those tombs, 2 of them were opened and several objects have been identified. Two golden crowns,which thought to be 2000 year old, two ancient gold coins which has the figure of 'god of sun', bull figured necklace, a gold ring with valuable jewelery, earring which has eros figure on it, a bronze amphore, and a dagger were found in the ancient tombs. Furthermore 150 ancient object were identified in the 2005 excavation period of the ancient city Parion. The 2005 excavation period of the ancient city Parion will be completed on August 20. Professor Basaran claimed the biggest problem of the excavation team as the insufficient budget. |
